Black Zinc with Black Zinc Oxide. Used to apply a decorative coating to zinc.
Black Zinc Oxide from Frost Auto is designed to blacken zinc at room temperature in about ten minutes by applying a black oxide coating.
Available in:
Blackening zinc with this liquid takes up to 10 minutes and does not affect the dimensions of the object, ideal for precision parts.
Unlike a blue, yellow or black passivative, which is a conversion layer that provides additional corrosion protection directly on galvanized steel, Black Zinc Oxide is a chemical treatment that forms a black oxide layer on zinc or galvanized steel, similar to cold chemical blackening for steel and iron. The layer itself offers limited protection and must be finished with a sealer to prevent oxidation.
Corrosion resistance is achieved by applying a water-repellent sealer such as the Verzinkshop DeepSeal Metal Sealer or Galvanizing Acrylic Metal Sealer.
Follow the steps to get a black finish on zinc:
| product | Black Zinc Oxide |
| Works on | bare zinc or blue passivated zinc, not suitable for yellow passivated zinc |
| Usage Concentration | Use undiluted |
