Complete bronze kit to quickly apply a rich, decorative bronze finish to various metals. Bronze plating objects yourself is simple: the Caswell Bronze electrolyte is cyanide-free, works at room temperature and quickly builds up to an even bronze layer. Suitable for restorations, decorative projects, fittings, decorative work and, for example, the bronze plating of shoes yourself.

Properties of the bronze electrolyte

• Works on zinc, cast metal, tin, nickel, copper, steel, lead and stainless steel; except for aluminium Zincate
• Stainless steel anodes, no brightener required
• Guideline current rating: 0.15 A per 10 cm²
• Works at room temperature
• Metal comes from the electrolyte; periodic refilling or renewal

Bronze-plating parts yourself – step-by-step plan

1. Fill a suitable plastic or glass tank with the Bronze electrolyte
2. Hang two stainless steel anodes in the bath and turn on agitation (pump or air)
3. Connect the positive (red) of the power supply to the anodes and leave the power supply off
4. Hang the workpiece on the nylon rod in the electrolyte and connect the negative (black) of the power supply to the workpiece
5. Set the power supply to 0.15 A per 10 cm²; Allow the process to run for 2–40+ minutes until the desired color/opacity is achieved

Post-treatment

For a durable, decorative finish, the bronze layer can be protected with a wax or clear coat.
