• Black chromium comes from the solution and not from the anode. The Caswell black chromium electrolyte must therefore be periodically replenished or replaced

Apply black chrome yourself

Chrome plating with this electrolyte produces a very nice layer of black chrome over a nickel or copper base layer within minutes.

To electroplat over existing chrome, the existing chrome layer must be removed by stripping it with, for example, Caswell’s anodizing and chrome stripping

When applying Caswell Black Krome ® over nickel, the color will have a metallic smoky black appearance, while a darker black color will be achieved with copper.

The finish should be treated with a wax or with a clear coating such as a clear coat to protect the metal.
