Verzinkshop V-Clean is a powerful, heavy-duty metal degreaser for immersion baths. This emulsifying alkaline cleaner removes oil, grease and other contamination from almost all metals. V-Clean is low-foaming and works well at relatively low temperatures (38–65 °C), making it ideal for alkaline dip cleaning in the workshop or a compact metalworking line.

V-Clean has been developed to thoroughly clean various metals. In addition, the aluminum will not etch under normal use. The product is low-caustic and contains no chelates. You use V-Clean as a cleaning step before, for example, chemical blackening, electroplating and phosphating. Good degreasing is the basis for a tight result: better adhesion, more even results and less chance of stains or “water break”.

V-Clean metal degreaser is supplied as a concentrate:

  • For plunge pools, mix 5–12% with tap water. This means that 1 liter of concentrate makes 8 to 20 liters of degreaser (depending on the mixing ratio).
  • For spray application, mix 0.5–2% with tap water. This means that 1 litre of concentrate makes about 50–200 litres of spray solution.

Application

  • Cleaning and degreasing of metal parts before surface treatments.
  • Removal of light to heavy oil/grease films (after removing coarse contamination).

Features of V-Clean

  • Emulsifying: absorbs oil/fat into the liquid (not a “floating” oil layer).
  • Low-caustic (less lye-like/corrosive):
    • more material-friendly; less chance of unwanted deterioration or etching (e.g. aluminum during normal use)
    • Less “overkill” if someone works too long or too hot
  • Without chelators:
    • Less chance of unwanted side effects/introduction to follow-up baths
    • easier bathing behaviour and management (fewer additives that can react)
  • Effective at relatively low process temperatures (approx. 38–60 °C).
  • Suitable as a process bath (soak cleaning) and optionally also in low concentration for spray/application.
  • Cleaning time depends on the type and degree of soiling, as well as the concentration and temperature of the working solution.

Degreasing metal in short steps

  • First remove coarse dirt (dirt, chips, polishing paste, thick layers of grease).
  • Prepare the working solution: 5–12% v/v V-Clean in water.
  • Bring the bath to temperature (38–65 °C).
  • Submerge the parts and move lightly to remove air bubbles.
  • Cleaning time (guideline, depending on contamination / temperature / concentration):
  • lightly soiled / well prepared: 2–5 minutes
  • Normally soiled: 5–10 minutes
  • Heavily soiled: 10–20 minutes (or better pre-cleaning)
  • Remove and rinse immediately and thoroughly with clean water.
  • Continue to the next step without unnecessary drying break.

Practical tips for using the metal degreaser

Position parts so that the liquid can reach everything and no air pockets are formed.

Rinse generously and cleanly to minimize carry-over to subsequent (especially acidic) baths.

Provide (forced) ventilation when mist/fog occurs (e.g. due to temperature, agitation or air infiltration).

Keep the bath at strength with periodic additions of concentrate (consumption + drag-out).

Change when cleaning is noticeably reduced or if there is excessive oil/grease soiling.
