Complete chrome sealant to quickly apply a chrome-like finish to various metals. Caswell Copy Chrome™ is not hard chrome, but delivers a durable chrome look without the complex Cr(VI) chrome baths. The process is easy to set up, which makes chrome plating easy, and gives a high-gloss result. For a “showroom chrome” look, Caswell recommends copper + nickel as underlayments, but this is not required: you can also apply Copy Chrome™ directly to steel, copper, brass, bronze and nickel (and to aluminum after zincate). Chrome plating parts yourself is therefore very easy with this simple chrome system.

Features of Copy Chrome™ kit

Chrome plating parts yourself – step-by-step plan

1. Fill a suitable plastic or glass tank with Copy Chrome™ electrolyte.
2. Add the Copy Chrome™ brightener according to the manual (starting dose, later periodically topping up).
3. Hang two cobalt anodes in the bath, insert the anode filter cloths and turn on agitation (pump or air).
4. Heat the bath: 21–43 °C (optimal results around 43 °C).
5. Connect the red plus of the power supply to the anodes; Leave the power supply off.
6. Clean and degrease the workpiece thoroughly, hang it on the nylon rod in the electrolyte, and connect the black minus of the power supply to the workpiece.
7. Measure the surface to be chromed and set the power supply to 0.05 amps per 10 cm². Turn on the power and let the process run until the desired layer is reached (guide values: ±15 min decorative, ±30 min tool, ±60 min heavier work).
8. Rinse and dry the workpiece; Optionally, you can preserve with wax or a clear coat.
