Caswell Conductive Copper Paint for electroforming. A conductive copper paint on a water basis.

Caswell Conductive Copper Paint

Caswell Conductive Copper Paint for electroforming. This water-based conductive paint gives a very low surface resistance so that you can deposit copper faster and more evenly than with a graphite coating. Ideal for larger areas and projects where speed and low resistance are important. The copper color remains visible with transparent inlays such as glass or gemstones.

Applications and substrates

  • Makes non-conductive objects conductive for copper deposition
  • Works on plastic, resin, leather, ceramics, cardboard, flowers and leaves, 3D prints, wood and glass, among others
  • For porous materials, first seal for a waterproof base

Key features

  • Very low surface resistivity for fast and uniform copper deposition
  • Water-based latex paint, user-friendly application
  • Copper-colored layer remains visible behind glass or gemstones
  • Dilutable with water to approximately 6 to 1 for spraying or airbrush
  • Air drying, guide value approximately 1 hour per coat
  • Guideline value dry film thickness per layer approx. 0.025 mm
  • Coverage approximately 15 m² per litre with standard layer thickness
  • Apply with brush, airbrush or spray gun

Use

  • Apply 1 to 2 coats with a brush or 2 to 4 thin coats with airbrush or spray gun
  • If necessary, dilute with water to about 6 to 1
  • Let air dry until dry. The drier the layer, the better the conductivity
  • Sealing porous or soft materials is recommended with Verzinkshop Electroforming Sealer

Safety

  • Water-based but classified as a hazardous mixture
  • May irritate skin and eyes and is harmful to the aquatic environment in the long term
  • Suspected carcinogenic. Work in a well-ventilated area and wear appropriate gloves and eye protection
  • Please refer to the Safety Data Sheet for complete information

Works by applying with brush. I haven’t been able to get any results with airbrush yet.

haven’t tried it yet. The granite paint is also good but I hope it works even better.
