With Caswell Copy Cad® zinc electrolyte, you can galvanize parts yourself quickly and easily. This ready-to-use electrolyte delivers a clear or cadmium-look zinc coating with excellent corrosion resistance and a professional finish in approximately 20 minutes. Ideal for restoration, maintenance and small series of parts.

The system works as a dull zinc or as a glossy zinc by adding the brightener. This way, you can achieve a consistent result on a variety of metals and shapes in a few simple steps. brightener is included as standard: Caswell Copy Cad Zinc brightener. Prefer a complete kit Then look here.

Properties of the zinc electrolyte

  • Galvanized steel, iron, cast metal, zinc, nickel, copper, brass, bronze, gold and silver
  • Uses zinc anodes. Zinc comes from the anodes and these need to be replaced when they run out
  • Gloss or cadmium look by adding zinc brightener
  • Long shelf life with proper maintenance

 

Galvanizing parts yourself – step-by-step plan

With the Copy Cad® zinc electrolyte you can achieve a professional result within minutes.

  1. Pour the Caswell Copy Cad® zinc electrolyte into a suitable plastic or glass tank
  2. Hang two zinc anodes in the bath and connect them to the positive of the power supply
  3. Carefully clean and degrease the part for an even finish
  4. Hang the part with copper wire on a stick over the edge of the tub and dip it in the electrolyte
  5. Connect the minus of the power supply to the part and make sure that plus and minus cannot touch
  6. Set the power supply to 0.15 amps per 10 cm² of surface. Turn on the power and let the process run until the desired layer is reached

What is Caswell Copy Cad Zinc Electrolyte

Caswell Copy Cad electrolyte is a solution with electrically charged ions. During electroplating, a power supply conducts current through the electrolyte, the anodes and the workpiece, causing zinc to deposit on the surface. A power supply is required for this process.
