Verzinkshop Black Stainless Steel Oxide gives stainless steel a gray-black iridescent finish. Stainless steel naturally has rust-resistant properties, so a sealer is not necessary. Still, a sealer can be applied as extra protection or for optical purposes. The kit includes Verzinkshop Black Stainless Steel Concentrate and a sealer of your choice.
Steps on How to Blacken Stainless Steel
- Mix the water and the Verzinkshop Black Stainless Steel Oxide Concentrate in the supplied bucket according to the instructions.
- Clean the stainless steel to be treated thoroughly and remove dirt and grease.
- Remove the passive chromium oxide layer by an acid bath, sanding or blasting.
- Perform a water breakage test .
- Immerse the part in the liquid for a few minutes. For larger objects, use a brush or sponge.
- Rinse the object in a container provided for this purpose, not under the tap.
- Optionally, finish the object with a sealer.
- Ready. Let the object dry and it is ready for use.
